Axiom Software's Discus personal profiler has always been ready to explore new markets, but it broke new ground recently with the announcement of a Chinese version of the software.
Discus, which is described in Chinese as
(approximately, the 'professional behavioural profiling system'), has been completely translated into Traditional Chinese script, as used in Hong Kong, Taiwan and other regions. A Chinese version tailored for use in mainland China will also be released shortly.
The translation provided some unique challenges, said Axiom's CEO Mark Housley. 'We have translated the software many times before, into languages as diverse as Norwegian and German, but this is our first conversion into an entirely new set of characters.'
The translation work should reap rewards, though: according to Axiom's research, Discus is the only product of its kind available in Chinese, granting the company a unique access to the developing economies of the Pacific rim.
